And like a lot of women, I know what it feels like to lose yourself for a while.
Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also swallow pieces of you whole if you’re not careful. Somewhere along the way, between pregnancies, sleepless nights, and taking care of everyone else, I stopped recognizing the woman in the mirror.
My body changed.
My identity shifted.
And there was a season of my life where I was fighting harder than anyone could see.
I’ve been 140 pounds.
I’ve been over 200 pounds.
I’ve loved my body.
I’ve struggled deeply with it.
And I’ve walked through postpartum depression that nearly took my life.
Finding my way back to myself wasn’t quick, and it wasn’t easy. But it taught me something that changed everything:
Most women are not broken.
They’re just exhausted from living in a world that constantly tells them they’re not enough.
That’s why Ember and Coal exists.
Not just to take beautiful photos, but to create a space where women can reconnect with themselves again.
Women walk into this studio nervous, unsure, sometimes carrying years of self-doubt.
And then something shifts.
They start to see themselves differently.
Stronger.
Softer.
More powerful than they ever gave themselves credit for.
And by the time they leave, the words I hear most are:
“I can’t believe that’s me.”
Watching that moment happen never gets old.
Because this work isn’t really about boudoir.
It’s about remembering who the hell you are.

Ember + Coal session?
Most women show up to their session a little nervous.
They tell me things like:
“I have no idea how to pose.”
“I’m awkward in photos.”
“I wish I had lost a few pounds first.”
And every single time, I tell them the same thing.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
You don’t need to change your body.
You don’t need to feel confident yet.
That part is my job.

The session fee includes a pre-planning phone call, wardrobe styling and full access to my client wardrobe, Fitting Appointment prior to your session, complementary professional hair and make-up services, as well as professional retouching of all the images.
All products and images are purchased separately at your reveal appointment immediately after your session.

Let us take care of every detail. As women we have so much on our plate, and we at Ember + Coal, Calgary's Boudoir Studio, want to take the day, and make it all about you!
We start your experience with a discovery call, where we will get to know one another. Discuss your vision, your why and what this session means to you.
Empowerment, self love and celebrating yourself might be the reason, or that might be just treading the surface of your reasons. Let’s connect and build a relationship.
3. Your Session
When you arrive to our Calgary Boudoir Studio for your session, its glam time! We will start with professional hair and makeup to help make you feel your best. After hair and make-up leaves, its just you and I. We will take a peak through outfits in the client closet, you are welcome to try on anything from there, and once you are ready, We'll get you into your first outfit and start your session. I have learned the best ways to pose every woman, as no two woman are the same. I will guide you throughout the session, so don't stress if you've never done this before! From tip toe, all the way to facial expressions, I will guide you through your session.
4. Your Same-Day Reveal
You will go out for lunch after your session is completed and come back to our studio just an hour later. At this point we will go through all of your images from your session. You will see all of your images, and select your favourites, that will be what you take home with you.
Our albums and products are all hand-crafted in Canada, by WOMEN!
Every album and products can be customized to look exactly as you want for it to look like, with our custom swatches, you will be able to envision your perfect album! They're the perfect gift for a partner or to yourself. After you've ordered your collection, I get to work finalizing editing and ordering your products.

2. Book Your Session
We will pick the perfect date for your session. I schedule boudoir sessions at 9 am starting with hair and makeup. You will receive a booking link for you to pay your session fee and sign your contract. You will also receive a questionnaire which helps me get to know you better! We will also discuss outfit options, of course all of our clients have access to our incredible Client Closet, XS-5XL options available, from lace, harnesses, body stockings, strappy and chains there is something for everyone in our client closet.
