What to Expect at your Child's Cake Smash

A cake smash is a fun and messy right of passage for children on their first and sometimes their second birthday.
Once we've had the opportunity to discuss your vision for your Childs session, We will get to work on bringing your vision to life. From a custom theme, to an incredible custom cake, and all the details in between, all you'll need to do is arrive. We will handle the rest.
Each Cake Smash session starts off with a few family or sibling photos if you'd like them, these are such memorable keep sakes, celebrating one year of being parents, a family, and having your babe for one whole year!
We will then transition into solo photos of your baby, with several props, outfit changes available, as we celebrate them!
Then begins the Cake Smash - The whole vision starts to come full circle. During the cake smash, the child is presented with their custom cake to touch, explore, and capture their reactions and messy antics. Expects lots of laughter, messiness and adorable moments as your child explores and interacts with the cake, resulting in cute and memorable photos. It is usually so light hearted and joyous for everyone to watch.
If your child is uneasy or unsure we can take a break, and get back into it when they are ready.
Often times, we will give them a wooden spoon to up the ante, as they often will smash their cake fiercely when given the spoon.
Splish splash, I was taking a bath! Once your child has completed their cake smashing, we have two tubs available depending on your theme, and vision. A toddler sized clawfoot tub, and a big metal bucket. Both are incredible to watch you baby splash in the tub. Here at Ember + Coal, we want to ensure your baby has the best experience, and that you have a seamless experience.
Once your child has completed their bubble bath, we will get you on your way - and we will get to work on getting your custom portraits, ready for your viewing!
